Vintage, Modern or In-Between

Have you ever liked two different genres? Two different centuries? And all for various reasons. Perhaps, it is the 1920s black and white films but you still love to go view the newest romantic comedy.  Does that make you a "crossover" or does that just mean you like a variety of things? Are you eclectic because you collect items from all over and from different periods of time.

Nah! I call this "character." I have always been in love with vintage furniture and the warmth the pieces have but I am also a lover of the modern era of furniture. With it's clean lines and bold colors and dramatic textures. I just love to think I have a vintage soul but a modern spirit.

Parts of me are drawn to the french provincial era furniture and other parts of me are drawn to the midcentury modern pieces coming on the market. Which has lead me to a challenge myself to create the perfect blend or at least near perfect blend of vintage and modern pieces. Combining textures, furniture, decor, and materials for a warm, inviting, chic, and charming home that speaks to soul and spirit.

I mean who doesn't like the Louis style chair. So popular they made it translucent or the arm chair.... now that is a oldie but a goodie. I mean, if you can find an older one and throw some modern fabric on it - the piece becomes revitalized. And as a bonus you end with "character" piece. After all, character adds charm and warmth to a home. Well at least to me it does!

Join me on my adventures and dilemmas between vintage, modern, and crossovers. Look forward to sharing ideas, posting how-to's, shopping, and creating with you all.
